HUMANITARIAN AID PACKAGES FOR SOCIALY VULNERABLE RESIDENTS

Municipality of Palilula-Nis in cooperation with the Red Cross and the City of Nis will organize distribution of humanitarian packages early in the next week (from 06th to 09th of November), to socially most vulnerable population in the rural area of the municipality of Palilula. Humanitarian package consists of basic foods with eight food items: flour, beans, rice, pasta, oil, canned vegetables, canned meat and dried vegetables (spices).
According to Boban Džunić, President of the Municipality of Palilula, invite was sent to citizens from rural areas of the municipality, to report to the Council of the citizens in their neighborhood, as soon as possible (until Monday, 4th of November). "We would like to do this with maximum transparency of distribution of humanitarian aid to our citizens . Our Municipal Administration carried out through a number of projects, and it is successfully trained to perform this task”, said President Džunić . Recipients of packages should meet the following criteria: they need to have permanent residence or to be registered for at least one year of residence in Palilula (in the rural area), that they belong to the category of the elderly, sick and disabled persons who do not have relatives who could help them; That the person is receiving outside assistance and care of another person; that the families whose income is below the threshold for receiving cash benefits, but for some reason they have not been aplying for this aid; being unemployed (registered with the National Employment Service).
Near to 2,000 families in the villages of the Municipality of Palilula should receive food packages. The Municipality of Palilula has15 villages which rely on a narrower part of the city. Understanding the situation on the terrain, solving problems and meeting with citizens, has become a common practice in the work of the senior management of the local government of the City of Nis. In Palilula, which is a home to more than 50 percent of social assistance citizens, according to the data of of the Centre for Social Work "St. Sava" in Nis, any kind of help that targets vulnerable population is very precious.
